Cel and Sketch from "The Wizard"

This original pencil sketch and painted cel feature Kowl in the She-Ra episode "The Wizard."

Cels from "Treasure of the First Ones"

Here is a great series of cels featuring She-Ra from the episode "Treasure of the First Ones." She-Ra's sword transforms into a shield on command. These cels show both the sword and the shield and were used in a transformation scene for this episode.

Cel and Sketch from "Sweet Bee's Home"

Here is an original pencil sketch and accompanying painted cel from the She-Ra episode "Sweet Bee's Home." It features Shadow Weaver and He-Man in a cool crossover appearance.

Cel from "Time Transformer"

Here is an original painted cel featuring Adora in the She-Ra episode, "Time Transformer." I photographed both the front and back sides of the cel to give you an idea of how they are painted. Before I began collecting animation art I didn't know much about the materials used to create these marvellous moving images!

Cels and Sketches from "A Lesson in Love"

Here is a series of four pencil sketches and accompanying painted cels from the She-Ra episode "A Lesson in Love." These are from an action sequence of She-Ra jumping and landing. It was hard to get an accurate screen-cap.

Star Trek: The Festival

In 1996, Toronto played host to Star Trek: The Festival. It was a citywide celebration of Trek's 30th anniversary. I met Majel Barrett at the CN Tower, Chase Masterson and James Doohan at Ontario Place and Gates McFadden at the Ontario Science Centre. I purchased a "passport" for access to all the events. It doubles as a collectable phone card.

Federation Science

In 1996, as part of Toronto's Star Trek: The Festival, the Ontario Science Centre had the travelling Federation Science Exhibit. Marc Okrand, the linguist who created the Klingon language, was present for the opening and a Klingon fan group welcomed him in song!

There were many interactive displays designed to look like TNG-era sets. They displayed information on real space and science. There were also several prop and costume displays.

Star Trek: The Exhibit

In 1996 the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto was host to Star Trek: The Exhibit. It was a part of the 30th anniversary Star Trek: The Festival celebrations. I wish I had a better camera and more photos of the event but here are a few to give a taste of what it was like. This was the forerunner of events like the massive Star Trek Tour currently making its way through the US.

Cel and Sketch from "Welcome Back, Kowl"

Here is an original pencil sketch and accompanying painted cel featuring Imp from the She-Ra episode "Welcome Back, Kowl."

Cel and Sketch from "The Heart of a Giant"

RIP Majel Barrett Roddenberry

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, has passed away. She was 76.

I am honoured to have met the First Lady of Trek here in Toronto. I met her at the top of the CN Tower at Star Trek: The Festival in 1996. I will remember her most for her wonderful sense of humour and dedication to Trek fans the world over.

Rest in peace, Majel. You will be missed.
